I have wanted to see this movie for such a long time. I read good and bad reviews about it, but being the individual that I am, I thought it best to judge for myself. I must admit that I was skeptical after some of the reviews, but I enjoyed it!!! I am not looking for Oscar winning performance or anything like that. I want pure enjoyment from a movie. That is my main criteria when watching a movie. This movie has breathtaking scenes. Yes, there is the predictable love story but who cares. This movie is about the love between a man and his dogs. The evidence of the bond between Paul Walker and the dogs are there. I cried like a baby. I actually left the lounge and stood outside. I couldn't bare to think or even try to understand what those dogs had to endure. Paul Walker isn't the best actor but I believe that he was the right guy for this film. I give this movie a total thumbs up because I felt like I was there with them. I felt the cold and when the ice cracked, I quickly looked to see if I was in a safe spot. So, call me a softie or call me a bleeding heart, but I will watch this movie again. If you still want to see the movie, don't read further!!!!

One of my favorite scenes in the movie was where the lead dog Maya said goodbye to Old Jack who was busy dying after being tied up for 15 days. He didn't have the strength to break the chains like the others did. She gingerly licked him and then walked away...

The character that stole my heart was Max. He was the one that lead all the surviving dogs back to their base after Maya was injured and in so doing ensuring their rescue. He is a beautiful animal. Even though this was a Disney production, it is a movie that families will enjoy. It was wonderful being able to watch a movie without profanity, sex, violence or any of the normal "Blockbuster" ingredients.

This is one movie I won't watch! Movies where animals die slay me. However I do enjoy movies where people die... X-Men III for example.

Re my comment on your 'I feel happy' post - I will respond here with 'I feel old!" "Tit" was so much a part of our slang growing up in SA that I am really surprised it is not used anymore - I guess it has been replaced with cool. I have been undecided about this movie but your thumbs up has made me add it to my rental list. Thanks. xox

Katt - In that case, have you seen Final Destination 3???? They die horribly - lots of blood and guts etc.

Angel - That is so amazing. I couldn't understand why our dogs were carrying on outside until I realized that they could hear the dogs on screen!!!!

Dawn - I hope you enjoy it and you have no need to feel old!!! Mind you, I don't understand the kids anymore with all their slang. Can't keep up. They change from day to day and just as you get to understand what they are talking about, they change again.
